The Programme is delivered in Northern Ireland by Director Development Ireland on behalf of the IoD and takes the form of 12.5 days of face-to-face tuition over nine months (including five two-day residentials) on the themes of:
- Role of the Director and the Board
- Strategy and Marketing
- Finance for Non-Financial Directors
- The Director's Role in Leading the Organisation
- Developing Board Performance
The Chartered Director Programme progresses through three stages:
- Certificate in Company Direction (Cert IoD)
- Diploma in Company Direction (Dip IoD)
- Chartered Director (CDir)
The Programme is delivered by IoD-approved facilitators who work internationally and understand the implementation issues rather than simply the theory. Programme materials are state-of-the-art, and highly accessible on-line support is provided for all participants.
The modules are delivered in an engaging, enjoyable style. Aimed at busy people there are no assignments or dissertations. There are two exams, for which our delegates are well-prepared, consistently excelling in terms of both pass-rate and number of Distinctions. The opportunities for networking and peer learning, during the programme and in our local Alumni group, feature highly in delegate feedback.
These professional qualifications give participants a solid grounding in skills such as strategy, finance and leadership. Over the years more than 500 local directors have taken part - a testament to its status among the business community in Northern Ireland. Some 50 local business leaders have already qualified as Chartered Directors.
