Director of the Year Awards
IoD First Trust Bank Director of the Year Awards recognise excellence in leadership in the private, public and third sectors.
The Awards are open to executive and non-executive directors (or equivalent level positions) from the private, public and third sectors across Northern Ireland, whether IoD members or not. They focus on the individual’s achievement, the importance of the director’s role in the community, and the commitment and expertise which contributed to the success of their business and to the Northern Ireland economy in the preceding 12 months.
Large Company Director of the Year
This awards category is open to directors of Northern Ireland based companies with more than 250 employees.
Young Director of the Year
To enter for this award, directors must be based in Northern Ireland, aged under the age of 42 (at the time of entry) and must be able to point to outstanding achievements at work in the previous 12 months.
International Director of the Year
This award is open to all directors in Northern Ireland based companies with sales outside the UK. The entrant must be able to show that a minimum of 25 per cent of the company’s turnover comes from sales outside the UK and must be successful in exporting, and committed to continued growth in the international business arena.
SME Director of the Year
This awards category is open to directors of Northern Ireland based companies with 250 or fewer employees.
Public Sector Director of the Year
This award is open to all directors in the public sector in Northern Ireland.
Family Business Director of the Year
Entrants for this award will be directors in family businesses in Northern Ireland that have reached a second-generation or more and will have responded to the specific challenges that face directors in such well-established family firms.
Third Sector Director of the Year
This award is open to all directors in the third sector - charitable or not-for-profit organisations - in Northern Ireland.
Non Executive Director of the Year
This award seeks to recognise the important role that Non-Executive Directors can play on a board of a company, regardless of its size. The entrants will hold a Non-Executive Director position within a company, public or third sector organisation based in Northern Ireland and be able to highlight the role that they have played in its overall success and growth.
Leadership in Corporate Responsibility
This award seeks to recognise those directors who are able to demonstrate that, through their direct actions and leadership, their business has made a positive impact on the local community, wider society and/or the environment.
Young Enterprise NI Director of the Year
The winner of this award will be nominated by Young Enterprise Northern Ireland and will recognise outstanding achievement by a school student in a Young Enterprise mini company.
NB Nominees do NOT have to be members of the Institute of Directors.
