New Director Bootcamp - Newry

25 October 2016

Date: 25 October
Time: 08:30am to 12:30pm
Venue: Sean Hollywood Arts Centre, 1A BAnk Parade, Newry, BT35 6HP
Members and Non-members: Free of charge

This boot camp has been specially designed by the Institute of Directors (IoD) Northern Ireland in connection with Catalyst Inc.

The boot camp is for new Directors, anyone soon to be appointed to a board or any Directors who would like to brush up on their responsibilities. It will be appropriate for Directors in any sector – private, social enterprise, charity and public.

Delivery will be mostly informal through ‘masterclass’ sessions with experienced directors talking about their personal experiences. You will be able to assess your knowledge level in the role of director, including legal and financial responsibilities and learn how to avoid issues that can lead to spectacular corporate governance failures.

Andrew Jennings of Arthur Cox will give an introduction to the responsibilities and duties of a director (in easy to understand language), which a panel of directors including Bonnie Anley of Londonderry Port and Sean Hogan from Ervia plc will talk about the ups and downs of their director careers.  A third panellist with recent experience of starting their own business will be confirmed shortly.

As well as having the opportunity to ask questions of our speakers, delegates will also get the chance to try out their boardroom decision making in an interaction case study session led by Alan Hanna of Strictly Boardroom.

This event is being run in partnership with Catalyst Inc and hosted by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
