diversity and people will automatically think you are talking about getting
more women on the board. And yes that is
an important issue. But diversity not
only includes gender, age, disability, and so on, it also refers to the
diversity of skills and experience. Good
boards will evaluate the range of skills, expertise and experience round the
boardroom table and assess whether they are sufficiently broad to help the
company to meet its objectives. The
style and effectiveness of boardroom discussion and decision making are also
heavily influenced by the extent of the diversity of the directors.
Led by Arthur Cox Partner, Alan Taylor, The Effective Board – ensuring diversity will use an interactive, boardroom-style format to examine what diversity in the boardroom really means.
